Crossroads begins as three former childhood friends prepare for their high school graduation.
Trashy Mimi (Taryn Manning) is pregnant.
Homecoming Queen Kit (Zoë Saldaña) is engaged.
Good girl Lucy (Britney Spears) is preparing to lose her virginity to her also-virgin lab partner, Henry (a very pale Justin Long).
They meet up at midnight to unearth a time capsule they buried when they were little, and, after realizing the shams their lives have become, decide to road trip it from Georgia to L.A. so that Mimi can pursue her dream of becoming a singer, Kit can visit her fiancé at college, and Lucy can track down the mother that abandoned her. Luckily, they come across kindly guitarist Ben (Anson Mount… good name!) to drive/chaperone/encourage/molest them. I love this movie, and especially this clip, for completely abandoning continuity in favor of yellow convertibles and dancing.
SPOILER ALERT: In the end it’s Lucy who goes for the record deal, not Mimi!!
